Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comThere is a sticky white substance on the rosemary plant. It appears in pea sized clumps throughtout the bush. What is it? Is it harmful to the plant or to humans or dogs? When watering the plant, I spray the clumps with the hose, they are easily washed away but reappear. Is it necessary to remove it? Is there a way to keep it from happening?

It sounds like you have a pest of some kind, perhaps scale or spider mites. They can sometimes be hard to see. Check the plant carefully for pests. Spraying it daily for a week or so will help to reduce their numbers and treating the plant with an organic pesticide should finish them. These recipes will help with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/organic/natural-home-pesticides-organic-garden-pest-control.htm [1]
