Rosemary

Three questions:

I have a friend who has a Christmas tree shaped Rosemary plant. After looking at all the varieties of Rosemary, I’m not sure which one to order and wonder if my chances of getting a good plant in the mail would be worth the effort. Sounds like these plants die easily. Hers was lush and full, but it was Christmas and might have been a new plant.

Another friend has an aroid or ZZ plant. Wondered about ordering one of these online and best place to order.

I’m wanting to turn my courtyard area into a perennial garden. Last year I had 6 hydrangeas planted. The area also did well with begonias. This area is on the north side of the house and has a sprinkler system. Just don’t know how to start and what plants would work best. Love the purple cone flowers and other old-fashioned plants. Also have an area on the east side of house for perennials.

Thank you for any info and advice!

Hard to say which type of Rosemary it could have been. That said these plants are rather difficult to grow indoors. I would check with local nurseries or garden centers first, as they will likely have a variety best suited to your area. If that doesn’t yield anything, a quick search online may provide retailers nearby or through mail order, just be sure to check them out thoroughly beforehand (return policy, customer satifaction, etc.).
