Q.Rose Tree How To Protect From Winter Freeze In NE OH.

Zone Youngstown, OH 44512 | katrob1995 added on September 30, 2021 | Answered

Saw the rose tree at a box store, bought it (looked very nice), but didn’t know that it can’t be kept outside for winter in northeast Ohio. We are putting it on the closed in porch for winter. Do we cover it with plastic or anything? I can’t find much on what to do for winter with the rose tree. I need help so it doesn’t die for next year.

You will have to bring it in out of the harsh cold, unfortunately. If left out, the graft will fail. I would keep it in a well lit garage, or other area not exposed to frost.
