Root System Of Apricot Trees

How invasive is the root system. Does it have a tap root Can I plant small perennials around the tree base?

The apricot tree has a low potential for root damage. Most fruit trees do not have taproots. It's actually best not to plant under a tree because it disturbs the tree's feeder roots, which are close to the top. Mulch is the best thing to put under the tree, out to the canopy line.
