Q.Rice paper plant
Why this year (I’ve had it about 8-10 yrs) are the leaves falling off, even young new ones? They are yellow and brown and look torn.

Look for signs of pests and treat with Neem Oil. You mention tattered leaves, though this could be due to pests.
Pests could also cause yellowing of leaves.
