Q.Repotting Fig Tree

Zone Mt Vernon Ohio 43050 | Anonymous added on May 9, 2023 | Answered

Last year I purchased a Chicago Hardy fig tree. Was thrilled to find it as my dad and grandmother (both from Italy) have grown fig trees in pots for many years. I live in central Ohio. It grew and produced a few figs last summer. When the leaves fell off and went dominate I brought it inside in a small sitting area. Apparently that wasn’t cool enough (or don’t think so)because it started to make leaves a month ago. The weather here is finally good enough to bring the tree outdoors but I really wanted to transplant it to a bigger pot. Is it too late to do that? And when you do re-pot should it be fertilized? Wondering too since it came out of dormancy early if it will produce fruit? Thanks so much for your help.

You can still transplant your fig tree into a larger pot. And it is normal for the leaves to develop before it's time to go outside. These articles should help:
