repotting an orchid that has far outgrown its pot

There are so many air roots on this plant – mostly at the top with several air roots coming out of the bottom holes of the pot. The orchid bloomed one time 2 1/2 years ago. What do I do? I have read many directions on DIY. I think the plant needs to be in a pot twice as large as what it’s in now. Not sure.

You may re-pot the orchids at any time. There are a few things you should know about them. They are epiphytes, and require a certain “soil”. Many places sell orchid mix. Now, what makes your orchid flower? Well, these plants are photoperiodic, and require at least 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness per night. Once they are in this light cycle, they will start to flower within weeks. During the dark cycle it is important to give them conditions where they will be in pitch black darkness for 12 hours, and then exposed to sunlight for 12 hours.
