Replanting tubers

Question

I have a large amount of Gloxinia tubers,
I am moving and I want to take the tubers with me to my new location.
I will be able to transplant into my yard late May.
We are moving from Phoenix further north in a cooler climate
Do I need to plant the tubers into soil or take them loose in a box?

Either way will be fine. It is easier to store when they are removed from the soil. Just plant them in containers as soon as possible after they get moved. Then when they are ready to go out, they can be put in ground, or in a larger container.
