Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have pulled out a small lemon plant growing next to a fully grown lemon tree. I would like to replant it but it has two tap roots, and I am wondering whether I can shorten them before planting or whether that would damage the little plant. Thank you, Harold.

Lemon tree suckers are common and should be removed so as not to steal nutrition from the parent tree. If planning to replant a sucker, it most likely won’t be the same as the parent if it is a grafted tree.
You can trim the root and it should enourage more roots to grow.
