Q.Replanting Old Christmas Tree

Zone BH2 6AE | Anonymous added on May 13, 2021 | Answered

Hello.. I live in a block of flats and someone had a mini christmas tree that they threw out. It was looking quite healthy in the pot with it’s needles still green. It’s now been replanted outside in the shared garden and to start with all the needles turned brown and fell off, but now it has started to look green and healthy at the ends of each branch… but the body of the tree the needles are still brown. Will this survive? Is it a good sign that the ends of the branches are starting to come back to life or are the ends taking all the nutrients? Will it ever grow?

Since I don't know what kind of tree it is, I'm going to guess that it's a pine tree. You need to prune it to remove the dead branches and needles. Here's an article with tips: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/pine/pine-tree-pruning.htm
