Q.Repair to Japanese Laceleaf Maple Tree

Anonymous added on March 15, 2014 | Answered

I have a 3 foot Japanese Laceleaf Maple tree that has a split in two of the v’s of the upper canopy. Should I leave them alone or can I help to support them so that they can heal?

With a split in the V, you should try to support it. Since it is still small, tying the area together with rubberize wire for a season will help. You will need to remove the wire after the season and either replace it, if the damage is not healed, or keep it off if you feel it is sufficiently healed.
