Q.Red Tips Planted Next to a Fence

Anonymous added on October 13, 2011 | Answered

I am planting Red Tips along my fence line for privacy. I would like to keep as much yard space as possible. How close can I plant them to the fence? Any suggestion?

Generally, these shrubs require at least 6 feet spacing between plants and most foundation plantings require anywhere from 3-5 feet from the home. Therefore, I would say plant it somewhere within these guidelines. If you plan on keeping the shrub pruned, which would help maintain its larger size, then somewhere between the 3-5 feet from the fence should be adequate.
