should the shoots at bottom of plant be cut down in the center with brown tips????

If you are experiencing brown tips, you will need to find out what is causing it, first. This can be for several reasons. Overwatering/underwatering, disease, overfeeding, cool temperatures, and too much light are all common causes.

Once you find out what is causing the brown tips, then you can begin to correct the issue. Fungicides, insecticides, and changing the conditions in which the plant lives may be necessary.
