Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI rent and the only place I have is on river rocks. I got two raised beds last year but I didn’t get much yield. I did not remove the rocks and dig down, just put soil in and compost. I now know that certain plants need more depth but I would like to know how much depth exactly – beans, tomatoes, lettuce, small carrots. Is there one gardening book with all these answers? Thank you.

1 Comment To "raised bed depth"

Most vegetables do need a depth of 2 to 3 feet of soil.
Many vegetables and herbs can be grown in much less soil depth.
Your raised bed could be used for more shallow growing plants.
Using other methods or containers for more ground hungry plants.
I’m listing several links to help you get started with this years garden planning.
