Q.Pygmy Date Palm Care: Looking For An Expert In Thousand Oaks, California Who Can Inspect My Pygmy Date Palm
Planted it one year ago as an 8’ high mature Pygmy date palm. I have other Pygmy Date Palms that are thriving. In the nursery the new transplant had more shade than it does now. I have gotten many opinions and am looking for a local expert!

We wouldn't be able to help you locate an expert on palms, but your county extension agent may know of someone or be able to help. Here are some articles that may help, also. Pygmy date palms need sandy, well drained soil, and if the soil is very alkaline with a pH over 7, you may get problems with magnesium or potassium deficiency. So checking the pH may be helpful. They should be able to tolerate sun or shade.
