Purple Fountain Grass

My fountain grass was cut back in late fall by my gardener. It’s mid-May and it still looks like straw – not a bit of green growth. I’m assuming it most likely didn’t survive our unusually harsh Texas winter but am not sure about replacing it since we haven’t had days of actual HOT weather yet. Your thoughts are appreciated!

This winter was particularly cold for most of the US. It is possible that it simply got too cold. Another possibility is that if the area it is growing is too wet, it cannot tolerate that over the winter.
