purple fountain grass

We cut our fountain grass down to about 12″ for the winter and left them out. Live in Idaho where it is quite cold through the winter months. We’ve noticed some of the other fountain grass around town is sprouting new green but ours is looking dead. How can we tell?

Unfortunately the Fountain Grass likely froze during the winter.
Purple Fountain Grass is hardy down to zone 8. The shallow container would not have offered any protection from the freezing temperatures.
You can lift the plants and store them for winter protection next time.
