Q.purple fountain grass

Zone 63304 | Anonymous added on July 30, 2017 | Answered

I planted 4 pots with purple fountain head in each. I do not plan to over winter these. Will the seed heads on these cause this to become an invasive plant in my garden?

I had to do some reading; this is what I found. If you are north of zone 8-9, it is unlikely to survive the winter. It sounds like you have the cultivar "rubrum". One of the parent plants is invasive but rubrum rarely produces seed. So you won't have a problem.
