purple deadnettle

Hi, Part of my lawn, like 50 square feet, is filled with purple deadnettle. What is the best method to remove this without herbicide. I am planning on putting some edible plants here in the future and don’t like the idea of using poisons in my yard, especially since I have a 1.5 year old who may go into that area of the yard.

I actually plan on covering this area with low ground cover and I dont even like grass lawns that much. Since its like a foot tall now can I just mow it with my lawn mower asap and then figure a way to control it after?
