Male blossoms will drop off themselves, as these do not produce any fruit. female blossoms are the ones that form into pumpkins. You can choose to remove some of the immature pumpkins of you have an abundance of them and would like to grow a certain amount. This will allow the plant to focus energy on those pumpkins which are already growing.
