Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI haven’t been able to find whether or not I should prune my wisteria that I just bought and planted in June. Do I leave it until next March for its first pruning? It’s climbing over a pergola and its tendrils have already reached the top (one planted on each side). Zone 4 – Quebec – Canada

For newly planted plants, it is best to leave them unpruned for the first year. This allows them to establish themselves well and grow a good root system without having to divert energy to healing the pruning wounds. We would recommend that you wait until next year to prune.
