Pruning meyer lemon bush

Our meyer lemon is probably 8+ years old. Very healthy. Growing in the ground, a BUSH, not a tree. Branches begin at ground level. It has a few branches reaching 7′ high but most are about 5 1/2 feet. About 6′ wide and encroaching on walkway. Huge thorns. Had about a dozen lemons this fall. I don’t want it so high, wide, or so many interior branches. We live in Beaumont TX. Can you help me?

From this image I suspect that the original tree may have died off or was over taken by the graft stock. You don’t appear to have any central leader.
You can still prune to remove any dead material, thin out the branches and shape the ‘bush’.
