Pruning Lilacs

Do you have any photos of where to prune lilacs? I couldn’t figure how where to prune on the bush by the instructions in the article. I’m concerned I will cut off the new growth area mentioned.

Here is an extension video with good tips on pruning, however, she is pruning before the leaves emerge. You are pruning after bloom and are concerned about cutting off next year's bloom. When you are trimming, you will see the new buds if they have formed. If you do, just cut in front of the buds, so as not to cut them off.
