pruning fig tree in June to help figs do better

Please let me know if I can cut about 10″ off the tip of my fig tree in June because the tree is growing upright and getting too high. I am thinking maybe this helps the figs, which are not many this year, to grow better. I cut the tree at the end of the winter this year and is growing very well, but it is getting too high and the figs are not many.

I would not recommend pruning while it is leafed out and in fruit as this may cause it to drop the fruit. If you have to cut it due to size constraints, then do so, but realize that it will not help with the growing fruit.

Try giving your plant some bone meal. This extra phosphorous may help it produce more figs next year.
