Q.Pruning Crepe Myrtles

Anonymous added on May 9, 2014 | Answered

I prune my crepe myrtle every year to the height I want it, and it always grows back taller than it was before I pruned it. Why is this and how can I keep this from happening? It kind of sits under the eaves so it cannot get to tall, but my pruning seems to entice it to grow taller.

Pruning naturally induces growth in some plants, especially during their active growing period, so it could be the timing of your pruning or the way you do it.
