pruning canna lilies

How far down the stalk should I cut after the flower has faded? I haven’t been doing that, and I am getting a group of what appears to be large seeds where the flower was. What is that? Thanks for your help.

Those are seeds. You can plant them if you would like, or simply cut them off so the plant can better focus on storing energy for flowers next year.

You can cut down the flower stem as far as you like, but make sure to leave the leaves as the plant needs these to store energy for next year’s flower.
