Pruning bottlebrush

How do I prune my bottlebrush, I can see that tiny seeds form where the flower spikes are, but there is growth and foliage past the flower spikes. Do I cut back to just lower than where the flower was or just after the seeds? I am not used to seeing growth that is past the flower.
