Pruning avocado houseplant from seed

My avocado plant is one year old grown from the pit and is now 4 feet tall with a dozen leaves up the trunk but hasn’t branched out. What can I do to encourage branches?
Thanks in advance

You can cut off about a third of the height and it should start to branch. When the branches reach about 8 inches you can pinch off the growing tips to further aid in branching.
