Pruning an Overgrown Camellia

I have a Camellia which is close to my house. It blooms early in the year before any others and I do not wish to lose it. It has, however, grown large and blocks light to a window. I would like to prune at least half off but this cuts down into the hard wood. Question is, how much can the plant take and can one prune it this severe?

You can cut it back by a third but no more, as this would damage the plant. This article will help you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/camellia/pruning-camellias-how-to-prune-a-camellia-plant.htm [1]
