Pruning a Damaged Crepe Myrtle

A crepe myrtle in my yard has been damaged by falling branches from a much larger tree. It is mid-July in central NC. Can I prune the tree back to regain a better shape? FYI: this tree never blooms because of lack of sun.

Because it’s mid summer, I would suggest you prune gently to remove damaged limbs. Water well to help relieve the stress. You might want to consider moving it to another location to get bloom, if that’s feasible, depending on it’s size and location availability.
