pruning a hibiscus

Question

I have a beautiful potted hibiscus and it is very large. I would like to bring it into the house for the winter, but it needs to be cut back. I live in very cold climate, so can’t leave it outside. Is it okay to cut it back and if so how much is okay? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
