How can I protect my trees from rodents climbing up and eating the fruit?

The easiest way is to make a cone out of sheet aluminum that encircles the trunk. This will keep the rodents from climbing up the trunk to get to the fruit. You can attach the cone to the tree with tacks or small nails without harming the tree. You only need enough to keep the cone in place.
