Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI took cuttings from my 3 year old jade, put the stems in dry potting mix 50% succulant compost 50% perlite for 5 days then gave a small amount of water. Now the middle section of the stem has shrivelled and I’m not sure if its rot from over watering (of which its had about a tablespoon full) or its drying out. I’ve attached a pic. Can you advise please. I think I overwatered the original jade becuase leaves have been dropping off since I trimmed it and one of the stems (thicker than a thumb) shrivelled in the same way. Thanks in advance.

Normally you let the leaf callus over before putting in soil. Then wait a week or so before watering. But still I think the way you did it should be fine. That stem doesn't look good though. It's possible the original plant had root rot and the pathogen came with the cutting. Inspect your original plant and look for a piece that doesn't have any brown on it and try again just in case the one pictured doesn't make it. You also can try growing from a leaf. A wrinkled leaf is usually a sign of underwatering. These articles should help:
