What causes that layer of brown cuttings on top of lawn after mowing and how to prevent it? My lawn is dead looking in spots after guy cut it, was it cut to short or scalped?

Unfortunately, your photo did not come through. I cannot say what happened to your lawn. What I can do, in the meantime, is share some articles that will go over common causes for browning. One you determine what was the cause, then you can begin to correct it. In come cases, this just means letting it grow back. In the case of infection, though, it may require intervention.
