Propagating A Hibiscus Plant

Question

We have an established hibiscus that blooms beautifully. We wondered if it could be divided. When and how can we add more of these to our yard? We live in mid Michigan if that matters. We also have raspberry bushes that have gone crazy and have to know when and how to bring them back to a manageable plant.
