Q.Problem with Pink dogwood

Zone Fircrest, WA 98466 | adabelle@wamail.net added on April 15, 2016 | Answered

My dogwood tree is at least 43 years old. It has always bloomed prolifically, but this year it had hardly any flowers at all. I noticed my neighbor across the street had the same problem. What caused this and what can I do to alleviate the problem? I also have moss on the tree trunk and branches. Anything I can do to get rid of this??

I would suspect that the tree as well as the neighboring tree did not receive enough water during the past summer and did not set buds as it has in past years.
Dogwood Trees need additional watering during dry spells.

In most cases, moss on the tree is not harmful but if you want to remove it-
moss can be removed by hand to eliminate damage to the tree.
