Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comAt the beginning of July, we purchased a Princess Kay Plum Tree. Soon after we had concerns about some leaves curling and others having holes in them. We went back to the nursery. We were told it was Leafminer and Shot Hole. We were to pick off any affected leaves, do a good fall clean-up and apply Horticultural oil in the spring before the tree leafs out. Now we are finding that some of the leaves are turning red. Also, all of the leaves look droopy – this droopiness has been since we got the tree. Do you have any views on this? Are you able to offer any advice or is it just a matter of being patient and waiting for the tree to adjust? Thank you for any help you are able to offer us.

Don’t worry about the reddish color in the leaves. That is a natural variation that trees of this variety can develop.
The other problems are most likely due to the tree still needing to adjust after being transplanted. The drooping leaves could perhaps be a watering issue; see the following article for advice.

If you follow the nursery’s advice and the tree still continues to have problems next year, it might be time to get a second opinion from a certified arborist.
