Q.Praying Mantis Sac

Zone Ottawa Lake Michigan | Anonymous added on October 4, 2025 | Answered

Hello. When pruning my holly bush. I came across two sacs. Unfortunately I didn’t really notice until after I clipped them from tree. I really want to try and save them, can I attach them back to the bush somehow so they will keep until next spring? I live in Michigan just across the Ohio boarded.

Yes, just reattach the stems with the sacs to the bush they were on. You can use twine, floral wire or even twist ties. If you clipped the egg sacs without stems attached, you can lightly push the sacs into a protected area of that bush or another one, such as in a joint or in a bushy evergreen plant. To protect it further, then wrap some twine around the sac and a stem to hold it in.
