Potting Soil To Lay Turf ?

Hi, I’m living in Dubai and all our yards are made of play sand or beach sand like ( desert sand if you will). I want to have grass in my lawn, I didn’t ask and educate myself before purchasing and bought 1000 litres of potting soil and mixed them in my lawn with the desert sand (mixed very well). Can I lay turf on top of them ? Will it survive ?
