Q.Potted Tree That Withstands Sea Winds
I live on the UK south coast, facing East. I have attempted to grow various vegetables in pots but none are able to withstand the winds off the sea, which is about 120m from my door. I want to buy a potted tree to grow outside my window to mark my retirement. Is there a tree that could survive these conditions? Thank you.

You might try a potted olive tree (Olea europaea) is a great option—hardy, drought-tolerant, wind-resistant, and thrives in full sun. Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) or a compact hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) also work well and add seasonal interest. Choose a heavy pot for stability, and consider windbreak netting during storms to help young trees establish.
