Q.Potted Pansies Don’t Bloom, How To Transplant If Too Crowded?

Zone 87109 | Anonymous added on April 7, 2021 | Answered

I have some mulch covering the pansies, outdoors. I planted them from a nursery last Spring. They thrived, but then stopped blooming late summer. They lived through the winter. Now (April) they are growing green but no blossoms. I tried to transplant one from the crowd of maybe 7 plants to thin it out, but it is not thriving. Picture a 1.5 foot wide plastic pot – one side with green, leafy, non-flowering pansies, and the other 1/2 with a possibly dead pansy. How deep in the soil do I transplant? Pansies should be easy, but not for me :-). Thank you!

Here is a link to a Gardening Know How page that has a series of articles about pansies. These should have all the info you'll need: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/search?q=pansy%20bloom
