Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHello
I have inherited a potted magnolia tree from a terrace and now have it indoors near a window that allows for the tree to receive atleast 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. Apparently the underside of the leafves are turning reddish brown. I wonder whether i did the wrong thing to put this tree indoors or whether the tree is responding to the normla autumnal rhythm and where many trees outdoor have leaves that turn brown and eventually fall off.
Can this tree survive my apartment or should I put it back outside for the Parisian winter?
Thank you!

Many Magnolias do this naturally. Unless the leaves are drying out and falling off, then this is not a concern. This type of Magnolia does not lose its leaves for the winter. On warmer days, if it is possible, Maybe you can put the tree outside for the day just to give a little extra sun.If you are seeing roots then it may be time to transplant to a bigger pot. In the wild these trees get quite large. It is best to have a container with adequate drainage, and good quality soil. Only water when the top of the soil is dry.
