How tall will a “brown turkey” grow in a container?

The tree will still want to be its stated original size… however, there are a few things you can do to keep it smaller. Keeping it in a 20 to 30 gallon container will sustain the tree, and even let it fruit when it is time. You should feed the tree every 6 months to a year with a good organic granular fertilizer. I recommend botanicare’s line called Organicare. Repot with fresh soil once every year or two and put it back in its container. remove any dead roots, and branches each time. every couple of months, you should put some dolomitic lime in there to supplement calcium and magnesium, as well as keep the soil pH buffered to an acceptable level. i use the brand called Agri-pel. In my state it is about 5 dollars for a 40 lb. bag. you will use a small handful per gallon of soil. Now, there are a few things you can do to keep it short. You can top the branches in alternating seasons. one year leave them be, the net cut the tips of the branches. Then every 3 years roughly… go through and remove Larger branches pretty far down. and let the new growth re-establish.
