Potatoes Soft And Soggy.

Dug up my potatoes 5 days ago and put in a black bin bag ate some for the next two days very nice flavour, three days later most of the remainder have gone soft and soggy, squeeze one gently and thick white liquid squirts out. What could have caused this to happen? Any advice would be appreciated.
