Q.potatoes

Anonymous added on June 21, 2015 | Answered

My potatoes grow a very tall vine – they do not bush. They only have a few blooms and in the fall produce only a handful of very small potatoes. What can I do to get better results?

Are they getting enough sun? Tall, leggy plants normally are reaching for more light. Have you "earthed" them up? Potato plants need to be continually hilled up to get good potatoes from them. What about fertilizer? It may help to give them an extra boost with a high phosphorus fertilizer or bone meal for better flowering and potato production.
