Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI just dug my potato crop and am wondering why my potatoes have grown with a lot of second growth? I refer to it as a nice big potato with “tumors.” Any suggestions? Thanks.

This can happen due to “tough” soil. If you soil is heavy or filled with stones, this can cause any root vegetable (potatoes among them) to grow haphazardly, as the tuber will grow into the softest areas of the soil first. It may also be a genetic anomaly with the potato plant where it is producing “Siamese twins” that have grow into one another.
