Q.Potato Plants Lush Green And Not Dying Even After 90 Days

Zone 08807 | gmurthyg added on July 12, 2020 | Answered

My name is Geri and I am in NJ and had planted potatoes late april. The flowers came and gone. But, the plants are still growing at the top and green. I see only few leaves yellow at bottom. Thought they should die in 90 days roughly. Is there anything rong? I have them in big pots – 16″ diameter and about 2 ft. deep. WOuld greatly appreciate input. My email gmurthyg@yahoo.com. Please let me know where you will answer. 1st time I am using this site. Thanks so much.

Don’t worry! We planted ours in March and they have just now started to die off some! We harvested a few yesterday that were planted in the ground and sure enough we had a beautiful harvest. But it was still too early as we had some that were tiny. Be patient and wait. They will die off when the time is right. The ones we did in containers still look like yours planting a month earlier than you.You should be fine! I hope this helps!
