Potato Help

I planted a potato cutting out about a month ago which had 2″ long shoots on it in my vegetable rack. Since then I have had an awful lot of light snow and freezing temperatures. However, it gets no frost where it is, as it is in a courtyard surrounded by the walls of my house. What are my chances of the potato surviving? Two weeks too late I covered it with tons of newspaper.

Potatoes are a cool weather plant. As long as no frost has damaged the foliage and the plant receives adequate drainage to prevent rotting, it should be ok. Unless you are still having or expecting wintry weather, you can probably uncover it now too.
