Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHello I am not sure if I am dealing with various problems here. I noticed that some of my plants leaves are turning yellow quite fast and some stems are actually rotting. Could it be a disease in the soil that I am transferring from plants to plants since I tend to split plants into small pots when I buy them or overwatering. Can Light be a factor? I have most of my plants in the basement, very little sunlight but I am using plants lights. Some of my plants leaves are turning yellow and brown and looking sickly. I have taken some of them from their pots, cut the rotten part of the stem and put them in water. How do I treat the actual plants? I have thrown away the soil now. thanks Selly

Make sure you are not overwatering. It is better to underwater than overwater. Let the soil dry between watering and see if that helps. Was the soil you were using from the garden or a commercial mix? Anything in containers should be a potting soil mix, no garden soil. The plant lights need to be on about 16 hours a day. If they are rotting, they need to be quickly repotted in fresh soil and clean containers.
