Poor results growing veggies

I have grown all sorts of vegetables successfully in other gardens in the past. Since moving to my current house, I’ve had very poor results. I live next door to a cricket field (slightly downhill from it) and I’m wondering if chemical run off from the cricket field could be responsible. I’m now unsure if I should be eating anything that has managed to grow in my garden (strawberries, herbs, onions). Anyone know what the likely chemicals are that they may be using? I guess ferrous sulphate – but that shouldn’t be a problem.

It certainly would be a reasonable question to present to the neighbor.

I would also have a soil test preformed. This is the only way to correctly determine what is in the soil and save time and money in guesswork.

Raised beds are an option for you, as you can control the growing medium.
